Live, Love and Laugh

Who says good neighbourliness is no laughing matter?
In July, residents of Bukit Purmei Zone A Residents’ Committee came together for laughter yoga sessions. The objective? To build better ties among neighbours.
Lead by Mr Lee Yew Lee, organisers of this activity hope that through laughing, positive emotions among residents will be generated. This in turn inspires them to do kind acts and build stronger neighbourly relations with one another.
But this was not just empty laughing. After each session held at Bukit Purmei Hillock, residents were asked to reflect on kind acts they experienced or witnessed. Next, they were ‘challenged’ to perform a kind act for someone else as well.
A total of 30 people attended the activity when it started on 2 Jul, but this grew to more than 50 people by the end of the two-week initiative.
Mr Lee, who is a Good Neighbour Award 2009 recipient, was very satisfied by the turnout. “Through these sessions, we brought people together, allowing them to feel healthier, happier and kinder!”
