Associate General Secretary (Partnership) - 6 months contract (Jul - Dec)

DESCRIPTION:

The Associate General Secretary (Partnership) at Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) is an important member of the SKM Secretariat whose efforts help to ensure that all people/private/public sector programmes of the Movement are done efficiently and expeditiously.

 

Working in the Partnerships team, the associate general secretary plays an active role in conceptualizing, planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing programmes to inspire small acts of kindness through the following measures:

 

  • Educating, motivating and inspiring the public to be advocates of kindness
  • Partnerships and engagement with ground-up movements (GUMs), social enterprises (OKIEs) and ambassadors (VoLKs)
    • Project assessment and grant processing
    • Sector development of these ground up movements
    • Monthly meetings and evaluation of GUMs
    • Foster bonding amongst GUMs, networking sessions with SKM
    • Incubating these groups into SKM’s Kindred Spirit Circle (KSC) at SKM’s annual Kindness Day SG event
  • Work closely with Partners and key stakeholders to ensure SKM’s messages are aligned and seek sponsorship where applicable
  • Marketing and managing public-related events as and when necessary
  • Ensure budget and expenses are well managed with transparency and prudence

 

The Associate General Secretary will support the Head, Partnerships in setting strategic directions and will provide on-ground oversight of SKM’s engagements.

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Degree in Business Administration / Marketing / Communications / Sociology with at least 2 year relevant working experience
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel
  • Able to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • People-oriented and enjoy organizing events
  • Able to manage projects and campaigns at a national level
  • Experienced in verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experienced in social media marketing tools
  • A personal interest in and disposition to kindness.

Associate General Secretary - Strategic Marketing and Communications (SMC)

Your essential function is to translate SKM’s mission and vision into communication strategies and initiatives, develop an annual calendar of events, and support SMC in planning the rollout of programmes and initiatives. 

 

Working with the Head of SMC, you will drive the development and execution of effective communication strategies to create public awareness of acts of kindness and influence and raise the standards of behaviour and responsibility through the following measures :

 

  • Develop effective communication strategies and initiatives that inspire a kinder and more gracious society in all aspects, including marketing, public relations, social media and new media

  • Develop strategies that promote social norms to increase behaviour change 

  • Provide support to the respective leads in SMC division to amplify SKM’s messaging through communications and multi-level activations

  • Identify opportunities for the different workstreams in SMC to collaborate and work together to amplify SKM’s messages. 

  • Ensure synergistic opportunities are identified and leveraged within SMC, and beyond SKM to amplify SKM’s core messages

  • Oversee the selection of vendors, ensuring funds are spent prudently and can support SMC’s activities for the entire financial year

  • Manage the allocated budget for the SMC division and practice good governance for all programmes and initiatives to ensure they are compliant with regulatory procedures and processes

  • Together with the Head of SM, provide the General Secretary with research in the area of kindness in multi-disciplinary workstreams when required. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Degree in Business Administration / Marketing / Communications / Sociology with at least 2-3 years of relevant working experience
  • A creative thinker, strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Proficient in MS Office and 
  • Good knowledge of social media 
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to manage projects and campaigns at a national level
  • Interest & self-confidence in continuous learning in a rapidly evolving industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Personable and convincing in relationships with colleagues & external partners.
  • Able to multitask, good organizational and time management skills
