Your reports “Bringing CNY cheer to the needy with rice” and “NTUC youth volunteers collect food items for the poor” (Jan 14) confirm again that the value of kindness resonates with our young people.
Such heart-warming accounts of values in action are needed in the light of recent surveys suggesting that we are behind other nations in helping others.
While surveys are useful, action speaks louder than words.
What our young people do for the poor is not a flash in the pan. Their sustained efforts to be kind to the needy are inspiring.
