Kindness begets kindness: Contractor makes shoe rack to thank couple in Yishun

November 17, 2014

SINGAPORE – The act of a contractor making a shoe rack for a couple who had earlier offered him food and drinks has gone viral online.

Mr Priveen Raj posted on Nov 10 a photo on Facebook of a “mysterious” shoe rack appearing outside his new home in a HDB Build-to-Order block in Yishun.

“Either someone got irritated that we left our slippers lying infront or someone really loves us… we choose the latter,” Mr Priveen posted.

Two days later, he posted another photo captioned “mystery solved”.

The rack was given by contractor Raj Kumar to thank Mr Priveen and his wife for giving him and his colleagues food and drinks when they were working on a project in the building.

“He took measurements, and put together a simple but awesome shoe rack out of recycled wood. When I invited him up earlier today and tried to give him a small token for his troubles, he flatly refused and said the gift was from him and his friends,” Mr Priveen wrote on his Facebook on Nov 13.

Mr Priveen’s post received more than 5,000 likes, and was shared more than 500 times.
