Telling the story of your neighbourhood, your way

February 22, 2019

Singapore, 20 February 2019 — Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) is working with online video platform, Viddsee, to promote its first-ever video competition through the platform’s social media channels. This is an opportunity for Singaporeans to showcase their storytelling skills by sharing what the Kampung Spirit means to them in their own unique video. Participants stand to walk away with a $5,000 cash prize!

Through this competition, themed “Feels like Kampung Spirit”, SKM hopes to gather heart-warming stories on neighbourliness in Singapore, and ultimately inspire Singaporeans to build a more gracious and happy neighbourhood. In line with the current call to ‘Be Greater’, SKM firmly believes that community cohesion is in each our own hands.

The video entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges and the top 3 outstanding entries will win cash prizes of $5,000, $3,000, or $2,000. Feels Like Kampung Spirit was launched on 12 February 2019 across SKM’s Facebook and Instagram platforms and will close on 15 March 2019. Winners will be announced on SKM’s social media channels.

“Even though we do not live in kampungs anymore, the kampung spirit is very much a part of the Singaporean fabric. I hope this competition can capture the close bonds and friendships between neighbours, and inspire us to continue making our community a pleasant place to come home to.”, Dr William Wan, General Secretary of Singapore Kindness Movement remarked.

Derek Tan, Chief Commercial Officer for Viddsee, said: “We are excited to work with SKM in encouraging Singaporeans to tell stories of everyday kindness, no matter how big or small. We believe this is a great opportunity for content creators to capture the essence of the kampung spirit, and allow their stories to reach a wider audience.”

The contest is open to all Singaporean Citizens or Permanent Residents, and they can participate as individuals or a team. Video entries are to be capped at 3 minutes, and submitted by uploading their file to YouTube and sending the link through the microsite or email to [email protected]. Submission details can be found here.

So, get those cameras rolling, and show us what your Kampung’s Spirit is like!
